Beef with Broccoli 9

My husband loves red meat, and we don’t eat very much of it at our house. I finally caved and bought some red meat and we celebrated with this recipe: beef and broccoli. It was truly simple and delicious. The meat and broccoli cook so quickly, you can have this on the table before your rice is cooked!

Beef and Broccoli 30 minute meal

Beef with Broccoli

Marinade:

1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 Tbsp. soy sauce
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
2 Tbsp. water

1 lb. broccoli crowns, washed and cut up

1 lb. sirloin (or flank) steak, thinly sliced

Marinate meat for at least one hour before dinner.

Sauce:

1/2 c. soy sauce (choose low sodium)
1/4 cup water
3 Tbsp. brown sugar
3 cloves garlic, minced
3 Tbsp. flour
1 Tbsp. rice vinegar
1 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
3 Tbsp. oil

Put 2 Tbsp. oil in skillet. Heat over medium high heat. When the oil is hot, add broccoli and saute for 3 minutes. Remove and put in bowl.

Add remaining oil and reheat for rippling hot heat. Add beef strips and spread across the skillet, cooking without stirring for one minute. Stir/toss with tongs and spread across the skillet again.  Cook for one minute. Be careful not to overcook meat.

Turn down heat to medium. Add sauce and broccoli. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and sauce begins to thicken. If needed, add a little more water or soy sauce per your preference. Be sure to use low sodium soy sauce or your beef will be salty.

Beef and Broccoli 30 minute meal Yum!

Serve with rice or noodles.

Beef and Broccoli Wanna bite

We gobbled this dinner up. Even I must admit it was a nice change from chicken! Do you make Chinese food at home? What is your favorite?

Beef and broccoli is one of my favorite stir fry dishes. I like that you use rice vinegar in yours. I bet that adds a nice flavor to it. You just planned one of my dinners for next week!

I really enjoyed this, too Michelle. I think my favorite is sweet and sour or orange chicken (Yum!) but this dish was so simple and delicious. Not nearly at intensive as some of those others!

We eat a lot or red meat at our house, but it’s always grass fed. Which is totally different that conventional corn fed, feed lot beef. Beef and broccoli is one of my favorite meals. I would order it all the time at Chinese restaurants. But we quit eating out unless absolutely necessary. This looks much healthier than what I could get from a take out place. I’m going to give it a try!

I am not a big red meat eater myself either. I like this simple recipe that is packed with flavor. Just pinned and thanks for sharing!
