Have you ever had one of those days where it seems like the “more” hounds are baying at your door?
I should have done more.
I need to be more.
You have your list of “things to do” and it seems at the end of the day, little has been crossed off that seems truly meaningful.
You don’t feel enough.
Your effort doesn’t seem to be enough.
The outcome doesn’t look good enough.
The words may even cross your mind: Maybe I am just not enough.
I know that I have had many days like this. Many of the things that we do daily aren’t always valued by the world. They aren’t recognized, perhaps even by the people around you.
How many awards are given for folding laundry, going to work, washing dishes, shuttling kids around, or spending a few minutes talking to your neighbor who needs a listening ear?
We don’t give out awards for this stuff, yet, much of it is what fills our days.
I am giving out an award today, to each one who showed up to read this post:
You don’t need to be like Mary or Peter or Sally. You need to be you. That is enough.
Don’t let the baying hounds of discouragement convince your otherwise.
In Romans 8 verses 16 and 17 we read:
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ;
if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Being a child of God makes me enough. I make mistakes every day. I mess up, do wrong, forget and have to start again. But I know that He knows me, and loves me, and that makes me enough.
I love this video. Please, take the time to watch it today:
We are enough. We are beautiful. We are children of Him.
My challenge today: Let yourself be enough.
Now, go and be you!
