My husband and I recently went to see the show “Heaven is for Real”. We really enjoyed the movie, but whether or not you like the show, it brings some very real and very honest questions to light: Is there a heaven? Is God a real being? Does prayer make a difference?
There have been times in my life when I felt God wasn’t answering my prayers. There have been times when I know He has answered me. Now, I realize that God is there, listening, often waiting for me, whether I discern the answers or not. He hears my prayers. How often do I hear Him? How often do I stop from my busy life and world and listen for Him? How often am I missing the gifts He has and is sharing with me?
One of my favorite messages from the movie was this: We are not alone, and God loves us.
It reminds me of the old poem Footprints in the Sand:
A few things I have learned about life: there will be pain, there will be disappointment, there will be doubts, but these things will never change that God loves His children. These things will not change that He exists and His intent is to help us find joy. He is there. We cannot see Him, and sometimes we will feel very alone, but He lives. He loves me. He knows my name. He knows yours. And He wants all of us to feel loved by Him.
