July is cruising to an end. In some ways, I am glad. If I were to pick a word for July it would be change. And, I don’t like change. I really don’t like change. But, change is good. It helps me progress and move forward, and get out of my comfort zone (see, I know the “right” answers, I just don’t always like them).
I came across this quote and just was reminded of how much I love butterflies. My little one got a butterfly net this summer. The first day, she sat outside for over an hour, waiting to catch a butterfly. When we finally convinced her to come in, she left the net in the tree outside, hoping that a butterfly would magically be “caught”.
It’s funny how much I dislike change, because that is a huge focus in my “day” job. Change is good. Change is possible. And, it is much easier to tell someone else to change, but personally… change is painful!
Let’s focus on the butterflies.
Here are my top ten posts for July 2014:
#1: The Five Minutes that Changed My Life: Speaking of change, isn’t this a perfect #1? I reread this and the tears still come. I am so grateful for the changes that have occurred in me because of motherhood. My little ones are two of my greatest blessings.
#2: Self-Harm: Some Facts and Helps: I was pleased that this was towards the top of the list. We can all gain a little more education about this tender subject. If you haven’t read it, please do. If you learned something, please share the message. The more educated we are, the greater likelihood we can help. And, if only one person is helped, it makes it worthwhile.
#3: Luscious Lemon Bars: This one was fun for me because I made these with my mom. There is something about lemons that reminds me of my mom. She loves the color yellow, and she always makes the best of even the worst situation. Does life give you lemons? Make lemon bars!
#4: German Pancakes: A breakfast of champions! This one was featured at Pure Grace Farms. Take a visit there, if you like. And, be sure to make breakfast for dinner this week. Your kids will love it!
#5: She Stood in the Storm — Free Printable: Do you see the change theme yet? This one was really intended for me, but I needed to share. I hope you all are able to adjust your sails, whatever the storm sends your way.
#6: One Sure-Fire Way to Be Miserable: I have to tell you a funny story about this. I tweeted the link that said, “Who is the fairest of them all?”, and got a response from someone called “Mirror”. This was the response, “You are, Balm to my Soul.” It startled me, then gave me a laugh. After a little research, I found out that “Mirror” is a bot that sends automatic responses. LOL. Go check out one way to ensure misery!
#7: Watermelon-Mint Salad: Yum! A fun way to change-up watermelon. If you have other ideas for using mint, leave me a note. I have mint. Yep. A lot. So recipes are welcome!!
#8: A Good Day: This post features a video from a project called Happiness Revealed. Take a minute to watch this. You will leave feeling a little more grateful for all those beautiful things around you.
#9: Moments are the Molecules that Make Up Eternity: Who can be more eloquent than Neal A. Maxwell? He could give a life lesson out of my math book. Check out how the little things can add up to big things in this post.
#10: Ten Tips for Tired Moms: Tired, anyone? See the quick and simple tips I shared here.
I hope you all had some great moments in July. Any changes for you? Please share.

I love that quote! I think so many of us fear change. I’m not really sure why. Most of the time, at least in my experience, the change ends up being for the better.

I agree that most change ends up making us better. It is the stretching and growing part that hurts! Thanks for stopping by and sharing!
I said something like this just the other day to my husband. I feel like summer is always the season for change. Every year, the same thing!
