I decided it was time to move forward from the winter into something fun. I love banners, but have never really used them in my own home. And since I put create on my Winter Blue’s list, I decided to put another coping skill into play. After I finished this project, I found I not only liked how it looked, but it felt good. It feels good to create!
I know there is a rule about 3s, so I made three.
Here is the before picture:
I gathered some items I had around the house and purchased a few things: ribbon, paper and buttons. As you can seen in the materials, I didn’t really know what I was going to use, so I just grabbed what I had, then figured it out along the way!
I decided to make one banner out of burlap I had left over from Christmas. The last two banners are made out of paper. I cut them into triangles and hearts.
Banner 1, I cut out the burlap and hot glued the hearts and LOVE lettering on. I also hot glued the ribbon to the back.
Banner 2, I cut the paper into triangles, and added some buttons and felt hearts I found at the scrapbook store. I punched holes in the paper and put them together with ribbon.
Banner 3, I cut the paper into hearts (I don’t have a heart paper punch, so it took some time…) and strung them together with yarn. Since this paper was patterned, I didn’t add any buttons.
Here is the picture with only one banner.
Then I added the other two. I can see why three is better!
It made it worthwhile when my girls turn out the lights except the one over the banners and dance around singing: “Valentine’s Day is about LOVE. Valentine’s Day is about LOVE…”
Happy crafting!
