I am excited about this post!! I found this at a few sites on Pinterest and decided to give it a try. I must admit, I cut the recipe in half, and halfway through I was sure I had messed up. But, needless to say, we succeeded and my girls spent an hour playing with this!!
If you can believe it, it is easier to clean up than Play-doh (Mom’s can cheer here!). It basically globs together and little pieces can be easily picked up. Fun!! The most expensive part is getting the glue. If anyone needs a teaspoon of Borax, I have a box!! 🙂
Here are the ingredients:
3/4 cup warm water
1 cup Elmer’s glue
Mix together in one bowl. Be sure to add food coloring here. It would be messy and nearly impossible to add after mixing with Borax/water solution.
1 tsp. Borax
1/2 cup hot water
Mix Borax in water in another bowl until dissolved.
Here is the fun part!! Slowly pour glue mixture to Borax/water mixture. It will immediately start to goop together. At first I thought I had done it wrong, but be patient. You can try to stir it, but really it will just start to gather together on its own.
There may be a slight amount of water left over. Pour the water out and allow the mixture to sit for a few minutes. It will goop together nicely!!
Now, play!! My little ones rolled it out and played with it just like play-doh. When they were done, we put it in an airtight container and it stayed soft!
Enjoy!! Over the next few weeks I will try to put up some posts for the kids! We know summer is coming and any ideas to keep them occupied are desirable!!
